Salik is a full-blown technological system engineered to automatically deduct tolls. This article will inform you about the timings, locations, fines, and more. Sometimes, citizens, residents, and visitors require thorough education to be up-to-date with how it works.
Dubai’s official road toll system, known as “Salik,” was introduced in 2007 to enhance traffic conditions. This innovation introduced a different means of traveling, thoroughly eradicating congestion. Its strategic locations and timings enable the government to raise funds to maintain the roads and provide a top-notch road system.
Everyone with a vehicle needs a Salik tag to pass through the toll gates conveniently. Whether you are a foreigner or a local, this must be part and parcel of your driving requirements. Visitors are included; you must purchase a Salik gate after the first trip. Your unregistered vehicle can still access the toll gates. Remember, there is a free period of 10 days, and after that, you will be fined if you are not registered on Salik.
If you fail to register for Salik after the grace period stated above, you will start incurring debts that must be paid or face punishment. You will be charged AED 100 the first time you use the toll after the ten days.
On the second trip, you will be charged AED 200 and AED 400 for other times you use the toll without a valid Salik tag.
