Land Rover, a top British auto brand renowned for its exquisite models with elegant designs, top-tier performances, and innovative technologies, is coming up with several electrified models in the near future. Though the automaker is also focusing on ICE, MHEV, and PHEV platforms, EVs have recently become their major priority. It's become important to compete with other top brands and stay relevant in the new era of the automotive industry. Here, I present you with a concise list of those upcoming Land Rover cars from 2025 to 2028. Let's check out what each model has to offer and how they stand out.
With the unveiling dates approaching, JLR has been conducting tests of its upcoming Range Rover Electric. Various car spy photographs show the barely camouflaged new Range Rover at Germany's Nürburgring racetrack. At first glance, the new Range Rover appears identical to the previous model, with the exception of the newly designed grille.
We can expect some minor underbody changes to improve aerodynamic efficiency. Other than that, it appears identical to its ICE and PHEV siblings. In addition, the 2026 Range Rover EV will use a modified MLA platform, similar to that of the previous gas and hybrid models.
It is much anticipated that the new Range Rover EV will feature an 800-volt architecture that supports fast DC charging. JLR confirmed this luxury SUV will be their first EV entry. It will feature extreme on- and off-road capabilities and the quietest interior of all the SUVs.
We can expect this upcoming electric SUV to be available at dealerships globally in 2025, despite bookings being open since 2023. There is already a waiting list of 16,000 units for this new EV, as per the official reports by JLR. The British automakers are also actively working on their electric Sport variant, which will launch soon after.
Disclaimer: The above specifications of the new Range Rover Electric 2026 are all speculative numbers based on the current trends in electric vehicles, especially for luxury SUVs. The final figures will vary. JLR has not officially released any information on specs and features. We’ll update the facts as new official information rolls out.
Soon after the launch of the all-electric Range Rover, we can expect the Sport variant to hit the market. Car enthusiasts expect this new Range Rover Sport 2026 to compete with the likes of the Porsche Cayenne EV and Lotus Eletre. Similar to the Range Rover Electric, this EV will also utilize the MLA platform.
This Sport variant is one of the six cars JLR aims to launch by 2026. JLR plans to commence the production of this Sport in Solihull, the same facility that produces all its flagship models, in the upcoming year. Halewood will develop the more compact versions, such as the Velar and Evoque.
The company has not officially revealed any details about the upcoming Range Rover Sport EV. Autocar personnel, however, have seen and photographed the testing prototypes in Spain. The test prototypes are almost identical to the existing Sport models, with minor alterations in the grille and exhaust covers.
We can expect the introduction of the latest elements in the interior and safety departments. In addition, we anticipate a dual-motor setup that will generate power comparable to today's V8. This sport can boast 626 bhp or equivalent, with an acceleration of 0–60 mph within 3.8 seconds. It will also incorporate 800V charging hardware to facilitate rapid top-ups. However, the actual details are still unknown at this time.

Jaguar Land Rover CEO Adrian Mardell recently confirmed that their first EMA-based vehicle will be a small SUV. He also said that this upcoming Land Rover car will be out on the market in around 18 months, i.e., in the spring of 2026.
Coincidentally, in August, car spy photographers captured the delivery and testing of the new Range Rover Velar at JLR’s Nurburgring test facility. We expect the new all-electric Velar to replace the seven-year-old existing Velar.
According to Mardell, the first MLA BEV-based Range Rover is expected to launch later next year. So, the Range Rover Velar EV 2027 will not be JLR's first EV. Regardless, JLR intends to construct its new Range Rover model at Halewood, though the model's identity remains uncertain.
From the initial impressions of the camouflaged Velar EV, it appears long enough to accommodate a third-row seat. The British automaker hasn't shed any insight on the Velar yet. However, with JLR's adoption of US tech specialist Nvidia's Drive chip-and-software combination, we can expect the Velar to come with an autonomous driving feature.

The upcoming Range Rover Evoque EV 2027 will be the second JLR EV to utilize the EMA platform, following the latest Range Rover Velar EV. With an expected launch date sometime in 2026, after Velar's release, the new Evoque will undergo production in Halewood, Liverpool. Though there are no sightings of its testing mule and prototypes anywhere, we can expect its unveiling sometime in 2025.
This third-gen Evoque will feature a flat floor with an 800V powertrain. The use of in-house EDUs (Electric Drive Units) will ensure 92% efficiency and the most torque-dense performance in its class. The British automakers are also confident that the upcoming Evoque will be extremely efficient, with at least 4–4.5 miles per kWh. It will also offer ultra-fast charging, enabling 5–80% SoC in under 25 minutes.
JLR has kept everything secret about this EV variant, only indicating its release in the year 2026. However, we can expect this electric SUV to come with minimal design tweaks, similar to those of the Range Rover EV, Velar EV, and Sport EV. It will also feature some of the latest elements in its interior and cutting-edge technologies in its safety department.
Despite the limited information we currently have about the new Range Rover Evoque EV, we will continue to update the details as new information becomes available. Out of all the ongoing Range Rover developments, the Evoque EV currently has the least amount of information available. We anticipate that more details will become available as its unveiling approaches, likely around 2025.

2027 can be the year when the long-awaited Baby Defender debuts in the global market. Rumors surfaced a few years ago, but JLR postponed its introduction for undisclosed reasons. However, the arrival of this 4X4 all-electric SUV is imminent.
The EMA platform, which features the 800V powertrain architecture, will initially develop the Defender as a compact EV to maintain the family line. The same platform that underpins smaller-sized EVs like Velar and Evoque will underpin the Defender. It will be smaller than its predecessors that use the Defender badge but have the same rugged DNA and ethos of conquering every path that lies ahead.
The British automaker has not released any official details on the upcoming Defender Sport, a possible other name for the Baby Defender. However, we can anticipate it will be a similar size to its EMA siblings, featuring around 4.6 m length, 2 m width, and less than 1.8 m height.
The development aims to provide strategic market coverage. A smaller version of the Defender with extreme capabilities can take over the market, especially for Defender lovers. We’ll only know how it's going to affect the JLR’s advancements to the all-electric spectrum when it makes its debut in the coming years.

Land Rover will continue to produce its current internal combustion engine (ICE) models until they become obsolete. However, with the above list of electric models, the brand has taken some crucial steps into the next era of the auto world. While the performance of JRL's all-electric SUVs remains to be seen, they have reported that their first all-electric Range Rover already has a waiting list of 16,000 people. This bodes well for the brand. We'll keep you updated with the latest Land Rover news; stay connected!
