Upcoming Nissan Cars From 2025-2028

Upcoming Nissan Cars From 2025-2028

Nissan has been at the forefront of the Japanese and global automotive industry since the mid-20th century. Nissan began its global presence with the Datsun 240Z sports car, marking significant progress in the evolution of the automotive industry. Currently, it occupies a prominent position in the automotive industry. With a wide range of stunning cars, offering practical functionality, affordable luxury, and superior performance, the Japanese brand has captivated a massive segment of customers worldwide. To keep its dominance prevalent, Nissan's upcoming cars from 2025 to 2028 will play a vital role. Let's explore the available models and the offerings they bring to the new era of the automotive industry.

Nissan Rogue Hybrid, 2026

Nissan is preparing to launch the 2026 Rogue Hybrid, an upgraded version of the 2025 Rogue that features a monohybrid powertrain. The new Rogue will be a plug-in hybrid, likely resembling the Mitsubishi Outlander Hybrid, with a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine and dual electric motors. It is the most sensible thing to do, as Nissan only needs to configure the ready-made architecture under its Rouge framework.

However, Nissan has said that they were targeting a 70-mile electric range. If this were the case, it would become the longest-range plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) on the market. I believe Nissan won't pursue this route with the upcoming 2026 Rouge. As we can see, the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV powertrain was based on the previous Rogue architecture; we won't be surprised to see the Japanese carmaker simply using this powertrain.

With a 20 kWh battery pack and nearly 40 miles of range, the new Nissan Rogue PHEV will be a viable option for those seeking an improvement on their current Rogue model. I believe the exterior will remain mostly unchanged. However, there are possibilities for more advanced elements in the driver-assistance and entertainment segments. We'll only know for a fact once the new Rogue Hybrid debuts sometime in 2025.

The Japanese car brand has kept everything about its upcoming Rogue PHEV under wraps. We can anticipate this model to follow its predecessor and feature three trim levels, such as SV, SL, and Platinum. This 2026 Rogue model will offer a viable option for customers wanting to save on fuel without going fully electric.

  • Expected Release Date: Late 2025 or Early 2026

Nissan Leaf, 2026

Nissan plans to introduce the next generation of its flagship Leaf EV at some point in 2025, as the 2026YM. We can anticipate the upcoming 2026 Leaf EV to come with some significant upgrades, such as higher driving range, a new powertrain, enhanced tech features, and updated aerodynamic design, among others.

Nissan plans to increase the Leaf's range to over 300 miles on a single charge, surpassing the current model's range of 74 miles. The new powertrain will feature more powerful motor configurations, offering improved acceleration and power output. Likely, the new Leaf EV will boast 250 HP on the higher trip, which is a significant increase compared to the current Leaf SV Plus's 160 HP.

This iteration will certainly incorporate the latest technical features that ensure refined driving dynamics. The EV may incorporate eco-friendly materials, targeting the modern trend. The upcoming Nissan Leaf EV will feature a more refined charging architecture, integrating a faster DC charging system. An anticipated 80% charge within 30 minutes will be a remarkable upgrade to the current 2025 variant.

This 2026 Nissan EV will revive Nissan's position on the market as one of the most affordable EVs. We expect the base Leaf trim to cost around $30,000 USD, with the higher trims being slightly more expensive. As of now, the carmaker has kept everything confidential, but the details will soon be out, with several test prototypes already out on the streets.

Nissan Maxima, 2026

With the production of the current gas-powered Maxima coming to an end in 2024, Nissan has planned to carry on the Maxima's nomenclature with electric variants in the coming year. The upcoming Nissan Maxima EV 2026 will go into production in early 2025 in Canton, Mississippi. These new electric sedans will most probably inherit the electric Ariya SUV's powertrain components.

It appears that the Maxima will come with multiple trim levels, each with a unique naming scheme, dropping the old SV and SR. However, Nissan has not officially announced anything on the matter. The design of the upcoming Nissan Maxima is still unknown, besides some unofficial rendered versions on the internet. Most probably, the framework will remain the same with some major tweaks in the grille, lighting components, and curves.

One thing is certain: it will use the company's CMF-EV platform, which underpins the Nissan Ariya. Nissan shares this platform with its partners Mitsubishi and Renault. It makes sense that Nissan can assemble components from Ariya's base models to create the Maxima base model, offering a smaller battery package and a single electric motor. The higher trims will receive a larger battery architecture and multiple motor setups.

Nissan has not revealed any details on the 2026 Nissan Maxima's powertrain and other components. However, as a sporty driving sedan, Maxima should at least come with an architecture that produces at least 483 HP and 590 lb.-ft. of torque, the same power figures from the IMs concept. We still have some time before the Japanese automaker reveals its new Maxima model. We hope it surpasses its predecessor by a significant margin.

  • Expected Release Date: Late 2025 or Early 2026
  • Estimated Price Range: Starting at $44,000 to $61,000 USD (depending on trims)

2026 Nissan Maxima Specifications: Here’s What We Know So Far:

Nissan G36 GT-R, 2028

The latest version of the Nissan GT-R, R35, came in 2007. This was almost two decades ago. Nissan recently announced that 2025 will be the last year for this iconic R35 GT-R. Doesn't it indicate the arrival of the next generation of Nissan GT-R? Yes, it does. However, the Japanese carmaker has not made an official announcement. Regardless, there is a growing buzz in the automotive community about the upcoming Nissan GT-R.

Despite the unveiling of their all-electric Hyper Force Concept, many car experts and auto news outlets remain confident that Nissan will build its R36, the next-gen GT-R, on an ICE or PHEV platform. As for the design, we can be sure that the iconic Godzilla elements will remain, as confirmed by Matthew Weaver, the VP of design for Nissan in Europe. Weaver also indicated that the developments will take time because they have to get everything right, from aerodynamics and speed to performance on the GT-R successor.

The new GT-R will definitely incorporate the finest technologies, especially in the performance and safety segments. It will also use solid-state batteries, which are more compact and offer faster charging and greater energy density. These batteries will significantly lower the overall weight and enhance speed and performance. The upcoming Nissan GT-R will probably start testing in 2026 and go into production in 2028.

The excitement among GT-R enthusiasts is intense. However, we need to wait a few more years to see why Nissan has kept the GT-R under wraps for so long. Do you think the new R36 GT-R will be out by 2028, or do we need to wait till the end of the decade?

  • Expected Release Date: Sometime in 2028 or later

New Nissan GT-R Specifications: Here’s What We Know So Far:

Nissan Silvia, 2028

Before its discontinuation in the early 2000s, the Nissan Silvia was a perfect sports car with optimal affordability. Nissan intended for its 350Z to take the lead, followed by the GT-R. However, due to a niche market segment and comparatively higher price points, Nissan's plan didn't go as anticipated. After nearly three decades, the Japanese company wants to bring back its iconic Silvia before the end of this decade. Nissan’s Vice President of Global Product Strategy, Ivan Espinosa, confirmed this in an interview.

He said they were in the initial stage of Silvia's development and wanted to make this an in-house project. However, sports cars are usually collaborations between brands, so there is a possibility that the upcoming Nissan Silvia might have a different brand's power plant under its hood. Besides the confirmation of Silvia's reintroduction, Nissan has not revealed anything officially.

However, we can predict that this sports car will rank lower than the current Z and GT-R. This implies that we shouldn't anticipate significant changes and additions to the car. It will simply match its pricing and provide a sporty driving experience at the most affordable price.

At present, we lack information about the car's design, powertrain specifications, and trim levels. We'll have to wait a few more years to see this iconic small sports car making its debut, possibly in 2026. The production will commence in 2028, and the car will be released later that year or in 2029.

  • Expected Release Date: Sometime in 2028 or later
  • Estimated Price Range: Starting at around mid-$30,000 USD

New Nissan Silvia Specifications: Here’s What We Know So Far:

  • Category: High-Performance Sports Car
  • Body Type: 2-Door Coupe
  • Seating Capacity: 2 Passengers
  • Powertrain: Likely Hybrid (Gasoline engine + electric motor)

As additional information emerges, we will enhance this content with further details regarding:

  • Engine, Transmission, Platform,
  • Acceleration, Top Speed, Engine, Torque,
  • Infotainment, Driver-Assistance,
  • Exterior Styling, Dimensions, Cargo Space,
  • Interior Elements, Safety Features,
  • EPA Fuel Economy, and Notable Technologies.

Final Thoughts

Nissan has made remarkable progress in the electrification of its flagship models. However, some models still feature the ICE powertrain, while one or two models have integrated PHEV technology. The Japanese carmaker has strategically positioned itself to seamlessly transition into all EV spectrums. However, it will gradually phase out its gas-powered models to usher in a new era in the automotive industry. The good news is that its customer base shares this desire.
